Did you know — your skin requires the same attention and care that you would give a healthy diet? Our skin is the largest organ in your body, and it provides a crucial barrier against dehydration, infection and harmful elements in the environment. And keeping with the environment, the weather also plays an import role in your skin’s overall health! From Hurricane Sandy to a Nor’easter — which is set to hit the East Coast, not to mention the very intense Presidential Election — stress and strain has suddenly taken control of your life! But these acts of God doesn’t have to be your reason for giving up on having some amazing “beauty” focused ‘ME’ — SPAtacular time! An amazing woman once told me, that “living in the moment — taking each day to not only slow down — but to enjoy these moments, are what matters the most!”

Here six tips — for SPAtacular skin:
1. Amp up the Antioxidants
Topical antioxidants is known to supplement sunscreen, while providing additional protection against skin damage! Vitamin C rich products with powerful botanical ingredients such as pomegranate, acai and grape seed — works wondrous on skin!
2. Outsmart the Bright Enemy
Signs of premature aging — can be attributed to the sun’s rays. Protect yourself with mineral-based sunscreen (SPF15) — safe for daily usage! Use a higher SPF factor — for those days when you have prolonged interactions under the sun.
3. Exercise the Skin with Exfoliation
Did you know that exfoliation is like exercise for the skin? Avoid highly abrasive physical exfoliants and opt-in for ingredients such as fruit enzymes, alpha hydroxy acid and/or lactic acid.
4. Be Beautiful yet Diligent
Sleepiness can tempt us to skip our cleansing routine — but please note that the night time routine — is the most important of your daily regimen. This is the time to wash away the day’s makeup residue and environmental pollutants — which can clog pores and cause black heads!
5. Spice up the Mix
Feed your body — a variety of foods, while nourishing your skin (in the same way). Consider alternating a vitamin A serum with a hydrating serum or even a nutrient-rich peptide cream — for your evening moisturizing session.
6. Give Yourself a Sweet Treat
Facials are more than just a luxury! It exfoliates deep down into the skin’s layers, removing impurities, stimulating a healthy glow. If your pockets can’t afford that coveted spa day, create your own Raw Honey Face Mask (recipe below).
